The Many Uses for Hydraulic Lifts

Hydraulic lifts are used in a variety of different applications. They can be found in automotive, shipping, construction, waste removal, mining, and retail industries as they’re an effective means of raising and lowering people, goods, and equipment. A vast number of today’s vehicles have some form of hydraulic lifting equipment built in – a typical example is loading doors on lorries.

Use of Hydraulic Lifts

The reason hydraulic lifting equipment is preferred over other forms of lifting equipment is that it’s extremely reliable and also in most cases easy to maintain. All hydraulic lifts use hydraulic pressure as the motive force whether they use air compressors or not because the air compressor pressurises the hydraulic oil and fluids allowing it to lift a load. Air compressors and hydraulics work together then to provide a safe and reliable means of lifting. Without one or the other lifting equipment would not work.

Types of Hydraulic Lifts

There are many different types of hydraulic lifting equipment available, such as scissor lifts, two-post lifts, four-post lifts, and carousel lifts. Each hydraulic lift type is designed for a specific application and so some types are more common in one industry than another.

Hydraulic lifting equipment and specifically hydraulic lifts have become a staple in the construction industry. Within construction sites, hydraulic lifts play a pivotal role thanks to their function as components in forklifts and other transport machinery. Hydraulic lifts are, for the most part, fully capable of being integrated into vehicles and devices and this makes them a valuable tool within the construction industry.

Hydraulic lifting equipment also has its place in public establishments. On buses and in vans, hydraulic lifts are used to make access easier and in nursing homes and hospitals, hydraulic lifts are used to provide access to hard-to-reach areas and otherwise problematic locations. The military also uses hydraulic lifts on armoured vehicles to make loading easier.

Older buildings also still make use of hydraulic lifts, although because distances are limited, these have been widely replaced with electrical lifts over the years to account for the growing size of buildings.

Overall, hydraulic lifting equipment plays a vital role in many industries where a range of hydraulic systems are deployed. There may be a replacement for hydraulic lifts in the future, but for now these pieces of engineering reign supreme in the automotive, shipping, construction, waste removal, mining, and retail industries as a means of lifting.
